Art for Melisus!

Title: 1. "Dark Reflections" & 2. "Presenting ..."
Gift for: melisus
Artist: leyna55
Rating: PG
Fandom: Star Trek (Reboot)
Warnings: None
Artist's Notes: Dear Melisus: Allowing creativity free rein was probably a dangerous option. I hope you like the result and are amused. I'm not sure there is a good explanation for the second painting, except that I painted them all barechested while I tried (unsuccessfully) to find a non-cheesy variation of the Mirror Mirror uniforms (I'm blaming the waist scarves), and I just couldn't help adding a silly AU variation. Ummm, sorry?
Summary: Chekov, McCoy and Kirk in the Reboot version of the Mirrorverse, as either the mirrorverse counterparts, or our characters undercover, depending on your preference.. The uniforms are a mashup of the original "Mirror Mirror" uniforms and later series Mirrorverse standards (Leather! Spiky hair! Stubble!). Plus a bonus, very different, AU.

Why hello there, "mystery" artist XD McCoy looks hot in both incarnations, and the coloring and faces are as amazing as always, the shading on McCoy's chest is especially great!

Painting McCoy's portrait was fun, and I found a great reference to use for his chest and arms.

(One of these days I'll try to disguise my style *g*.)

I had a blast painting this. The portraits all worked easily, the uniforms were more difficult until I finally decided to just embrace their awesome cheesiness, and I got to be silly with the outtake. *g*

Oh holy hot damn. :D Your likenesses are marvelous, the colors are super gorgeous, and . . . well! I love how well their expressions work for both scenarios. ;) Kirk just looks thrilled either way; Chekov's a tiny bit sheepish (with the downcast eyes!) and McCoy is . . . totally confident and maybe a little smug. (And I can see why, with arms like that.) Fantastic work.

Thank you! I really enjoyed painting the portraits, and I was very happy with their expressions - Kirk's amused me greatly *g* The outtake just kinda worked so I couldn't resist including it.

McCoy doesn't exactly have arms like that but (Karl does/did, so) I figure Mirror McCoy could!

Oh greatness! I love their expressions and utter cockiness, plus YUM! McCoy's arms! The outtake is just... well, inevitable, really. As always, your gorgeous, gorgeous painterly style and character likeness just blow my mind. Bravo, dear totally Anonymous Artist! :P

*g* Thank you! The portraits worked very easily for once, so that was a real bonus. When I was looking for a reference for McCoy, I found that one of Karl and just loved the cockiness of it.

I'm afraid I couldn't resist the sheer silliness of the outtake. *g*

Thank you! I usually include the information - "digital painting, Corel Painter & Wacom tablet", but forgot this time.
(I put up a walkthrough of my technique here if you are curious)

You should put this on one of those mugs where it displays the first picture, you add a hot liquid, and it reveals the second pic. ::thumbs up::

Wow, these are amazingly skilled portraits and filthy hot too, I don't know which of the two I love more! The detail you put into the costumes in the first one is amazing.

Thank you! I'm incredibly pleased with how the likenesses turned out - I wanted to do something with portraits. I tried a couple of different variations with the costumes, but I liked these best.
